'Separated Brethren' by Alan Dunlop, Member NSI-NB

Over the ages, many Irish coins found their ways to Britain and Continent in the pockets and boxes of travellers and merchants.This paper is something of a welcome home to Ireland for some ‘separated brethren’, coins which were minted in Ireland but somehow found their way to England and have been uncovered by detectorists and sold on eBay. The author gives a brief account of their place in the numismatic history of Ireland, a description of the coins themselves, where they were found and some thoughts on how they may have arrived there.
