The presentation looked at the history and coinage of the Byzantine Empire. The Empire is considered to have commenced with the fall of Rome in the West. The Eastern part of the Roman Empire, with its capital at Constantinople, continued on for almost another 1000 years until its final fall to the Ottoman Turks in 1453.
